The Province of Salerno organizes the Six Fair of the Mediterranean Archaeological Tourism that will take place in the Congress Center Ariston of Paestum (Salerno), from 18th - 21th of November 2004.
The manifestation is becoming more and more important expecially among the " the authorized persons", among the International Scientific Authority, and in the world of Information. Last November, on an area of approximately 12.000 sqm, there were 200 exhibitors (in representation of 8 foreign countries, 13 Italian Regions, 40 Provinces, 80 Communes).They met about 8.500 visitors, and there had been 36 Conferences and Seminars, 4 laboratory of experimental archaeology and 3 exhibitions.
To develop in ampler measure the relationships with the countries rich in archaeological sites and to represent to the best the international dimension, annually a country of the Mediterranean area is invited: for 2004 the choice is fallen on Francia.
There is always the Workshop: during last edition there were the tour operators, chosen by the ENIT among those interested in the archaeological tourism coming from Austria, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Japan, Holland, Portugal, Great Britain, Scandinavia, Spain, Usa, Switzerland, Argentina, Chile, Canada, Korea, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Republic Ceca, Hunghary, Sweden, Russia. Over 2.500.000 visited the web site: www.borsaturismo.com. The Fair has a peculiarity because it promotes the meeting between the supply and the offer in the archaeological field of tourism. Moreover, it constitutes a showcase for many Mediterranean destinations.
The Fair constitutes also an important occasion for improving the knowledge of the archaeological heritage through conferences and seminaries, held by important people , in collaboration with important institional partners. Visitors can directly try the working of stones, metals, potteries and learn pictorial technique through teaching laboratories.
The Fair offers, therefore, the following opportunities:
- exposition saloon ;
- workshop with the foreign buyerses selected by the ENIT (Saturday 8th November);
- worshop with the demand of the in partnership tourism (Sunday November 9 th);
- lectures, seminars, presentation of projects and cultural initiatives;
- initiatives for the formation of agents of trip, tour operator, hotel keeper and persons responsible of receptive structures;
- review of film of animation to archaeological theme, realized by the students coming from the Mediterranean regions;
- laboratories of experimental archaeology
- driven visits to the archaeological sites of the province of Salerno and the region Campania;
- Possibility to attend to the rich social program: Cocktail of welcome, Italo-France evenings, Gala Dinner;
