Fifty young students from upper
secondary schools have made in no time, that
is to say during the Exhibition week, some
animated spots on archaeological tourism but
with the frenetic rhythms and the biting irony
of the animation films.
This
initiative is organised by the Canadian experts, André Leduc and Florence

Regional Award “Scuola in Borsa”

PIT “Piana Sele” - Hera Sele Mare
Association ARGONAUTA - Art, Culture and Territory
The Regional Prize Scuola in Borsa is a project idea
that actively involves, during the Mediterranean
Exhibition of Archaeological Tourism, 24 schools
(primary, lower secondary and upper secondary
schools) from the Region of Campania and selected
from among those that showed a particular interest
for the theme, constantly working on such theme.
This year, the project’s main team was the figure of Hera. One of the most important
gods of the Greek pantheon, its cult, which lasted until the Roman age, developed
at the famous sanctuary of the mouth of Sele around the end of the VII and
beginning of the VI century B.C. Double functions and various symbols are often
attributed to Hera: while sometimes pictured as a young girl, goddess of chastity
and purity, at other times, she is seen holding a baby in her arms as a protector
of fertility and maternity (Kourotrophos). In addition, she is also the goddess
protector of the warriors, arms and navigation (Promachos).
The school students that participated in the project received special didactic
material and attended class lessons given by experts on the reference theme,
thanks to which, they were able to prepare their paper. The classes that presented
the best papers were then offered to participate, during the Exhibition, in
the historical-artist didactic activities (visit to the Museum Narrante; re-elaboration
activities of handmade articles through painting; recognition of handmade products).
The award, assigned to the first class classified and that for every education
level, consists in a day of activities that includes an overnight stay and
breakfast at the experimental archaeology centre Antiquitates di Blera (VT).
