Experimental
Archaeology is a scientific discipline that aims at
reconstructing the anthropological culture and the
materials from the antiquities, experimenting the techniques
and practices used by ancient men in their daily lives.
Thus, an experimental archaeologist is a real artisan with a specific historical,
archaeological and archaeometry preparation; by mixing technical capacities and
theoretic knowledge, he attempts at reproducing the handmade articles of our
ancestors in order to understand better their way of living.
The lithic processing, the bones, horns,
|
|
and
clay will all be presented in the area dedicated to
the laboratories, but with different work proposals
even as
regards the materials so as to allow visitors to experiment with their own hands
these antique works. It is an ideal journey through the most ancient times of
our history.By
using simple notions, it will be possible to go through
all the main stages of man's evolution. Skins, rocks,
wood and bones will be used to duplicate the
instruments of our ancestors.
Such experiments are essential to understand better the efforts primitive men
made when trying to survive and to deal with the environment and his needs to
transform such environment.
Moreover, fire ignition and the prehistoric painting techniques will also be
object of experimentations.
